SSI benefits STOP after 30 consecutive days outside the United States.

  • Your SSI payments will stop beginning with the month after you've been outside the U.S. for 30 consecutive days
  • Benefits cannot be restarted until you return to the U.S. and remain for 30 consecutive days
  • This applies to all countries - there are no exceptions
  • Even brief trips outside the U.S. (less than 30 days) may affect your eligibility if frequent
